Golf course in the Laurentians

The Val-Morin Golf Club course offers entertainment and many challenges for every type of golfer. With a par of 71 and a length of 6,243 yards, this 18-hole course features narrow fairways, many natural water hazards, and well-protected greens. Accuracy is key!

Graham Cooke, an internationally renowned Canadian architect, recently took part in redesigning the course. Although the club is located in a mountainous setting, the course is very walkable and will be appreciated by players who prefer to play on foot. However, the golf club also has a fleet of 60 roofed electric carts.

Regulations

  1. Golf Canada’s Rules of Golf, as well as local rules, are in effect.
  2. Fences, stakes, and white lines define out of bounds (holes 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18); stroke-and-distance penalty under Rule 27-1.
  3. Yellow stakes and lines indicate and define a water hazard (holes 14, 17 and 18); one-stroke penalty under Rule 26-1a and b.
  4. Holes #14 and #17: play is prohibited inside the water hazard (protected area).
  5. Red stakes and lines indicate and define a lateral water hazard (holes 2, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16 and 17); one-stroke penalty under Rule 26-1a, b and c.
  6. Hole #10: a provisional ball is permitted. If your ball lies in the water hazard after your tee shot, you may replay from the original teeing area with a tee or from the designated drop area only.
  7. Staked trees, flower beds, and shelters: mandatory relief without penalty (Rule 25-1).
  8. Bunkers: under Rule 24-1, if one or more stones interfere with your swing, you may remove them without penalty.
  9. Embedded ball: a ball embedded in its own pitch mark in the ground may be lifted, cleaned, and dropped as near as possible to where it lay without penalty, not nearer the hole, anywhere on the course.
  10. On hole #16, a player whose ball is in a position where the protective net on hole #17 interferes with their swing or line of play may drop the ball, without penalty, in the designated area, provided the player does not drop it closer to the hole (R.33-8/18).
